My version of strangeness of crohns
Question:
Gail I still do not agree with your theory. But you are entitled to your opinion. Howard
Response:
Howard, You have every right to disagree, and I take no offense. So as the saying goes, we will agree to disagree, amiably. Gail
Response:
Boy — could you two please work for the UN or something. . . . Rebecca

Response:
Gail, Do you believe your theory works through purely through magic, or is there some other means for it to work? Boyd — "The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity." (Ellen Parr- author)
Response:
Boyd, No magic involved as far as I know. I would be the last one to practice or know anything about magic, else I would be in better straits. As one person pointed out, and has since refrained from writing since we had an exchange of E-mail,with him asking for further comments, he had read a swami’s account of drugs, being that when one is on a hallucigen, it expands their mind and is capable of reaching and influencing others. There was a long exchange of posts a while back which I got from this person’s post titling the posts "Spiritual Interference". A reference from the swami’s writings. That is as close as I can come to an explanation, but in truth I have no explanation, I only know it works that way. To further say, that when the stimulant causes crohns or UC in a vulnerable person, to put the other theories in use, perhaps when the stress from the stimulant hits, it causes the immune system to attack itself. That would be the second step, but the core is the stimulant. As far as genetic, Mexico being blamed, etc. I reject those, it is more probable that several people in the family are being affected by one common persons stimulant use. Gail
Response:
Howard dear, You are right about stress in crohns and UC. But Crohns and UC –IS STRESS . According to me, it is the stress placed on the mind and body by SOMEONE else’s stimulant use. For me, it is a tried and tested theory many, many, times over. Relieve the stress and some improvement is noted, whether by diversion, etc. but the stress remains underlying as long as a person is under seige from a stimulant. I know you do not believe this, and that is your right, and I truly wish it were’t so., because it takes much of it out of our hands and in someone else’s and most of the time (or all of the time) they are unwillingly to give up their med or pot or substitute it for something else. Alcohol plays no part in crohns or UC. Another thing I have noted is that the person very often most concerned about the sick person is the one that is on the stimulant and still unwilling to give it up. I will stick my neck out and say Bryan was one such person. Concerned with Chris, but unwillingly to give up pot. Another (one of many I have corresponded with) said "According to you, my wife should divorce me, no thanks) Is that a compassionate reply. Whether one believes it or not, they should be willing to give the ill person the benefit of the doubt, and it is certain to work, unless there is another person involved on a stimulant. We are inundated with stimulants, in one form or another. This person I visit in the nursing home lived with me for 8 years, enough for me to know when and why she is sick. and me too, her friend, first on pot, and then on cocaine, adopted me as a close friend, which was both of our undoing. For her benefit and mine, I felt a change was in order. But nothing has changed as to my concern for her. The two past years in the nursing home has been pretty good for her, but with Mrs. S. on a stimulant, that could change any moment. And I can tell you, I feel for any of the others in the home that may be affected. One that went to the hospital said on that day, "I am going to die, " She must have been fearful of something by intuition. I hope that never comes to pass. The occasion was a mother’s day luncheon given for mothers of the residents. and my friend’s mother included me in the occasion. She doesn’t believe a word of what I say, and said, gosh you wouldn’t say that to Mrs. S. would you. Of course not, but the events following to me were some of what I feared. Actually, I thought the other bird would cease, because as I have said many times, animals seem to feel the vibes also. Yes, it’s strange, I admit it, but sometimes even strange things can be so. (and I do wish it weren’t so) but please observe, they will NEVER pinpoint a cause no matter what they say they have discovered. Sincerely Gail
Response:
Hello Gail You already know that I believe your theory is wrong. I thank you for taking time to visit your friend in the nursing home. Would that more people would do that. Thank you. I would like to point out one thing. As I recall, every time you discuss an incident where your crohn’s flares up, and you credit it to your theory; that incident involves a lot of ’stress.’ Stress is certainly one of the things which can trigger a flare up in my UC. I simply ask that you reexamine your theory. Thanks. Howard UC since 1995 Peace & Harmony – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – If ever there was a subject to elicit a myriad of opinions and opinions for causes, it is crohns and UC. Most of you know my opinion, so I am elaborating a little further on what I can’t prove but believe. My dear friend is in a nursing home, who I try to visit every week, and while there have taken up feeding the two parakeets kept there for therapy, I assume for the residents. Fine, I do not mind buying the food or caring for them, as the woman that was placed in charge always says she doesn’t feel good and is glad for me to feed them. Well, last week, one of the parakeets died and the woman that is supposed to care for them told me the bird died. So in discussion, I said I hoped the owner would not buy another, as it quite a burden in bad weather for me to get there. The owner, Mrs. S. happened to be standing close by and heard my comments. She came to me and said, Gail, I love you when you come by and visit, but I don’t like you when you remark about the birds. (she has not looked in on them for the last two years, after all they are not paying residents). One word led to another, and she hollered at me and said not to go near the birds again, so my temper flared and I screamed a little. That evening, after the close encounter, I became ill and I deducted she has to be on an anti-depressant for me to get the symptoms. As I said before, there is a sixth sense most of the time for me w/crohns. The next step was, I started to worry about my friend, as I placed her there to get away from her friend’s cocaine use, and here she is with someone in charge that is on a stimulant. I worried all week what could happen as I care deeply for her. 9 days later, went to visit (and feed the birds) Mrs. S. was not there at the time, and the woman in charge of the birds who knows everything that goes on there and is quite vocal told me, three residents died in their beds last week, and three more went to the hospital. It is a small nursing home with only about 48 residents, so that is a big percentage. I know they were sick to be there, but just a little push was all it takes to hurt them. My friends mother told me Mrs. S. has been very nervous lately, and I do assume the stress of operating a home may have prompted her to need an anti-depressant. She used to joke with me, that she could use a Valium, but again, doctors are very reluctant to give Valium, so if anything, they will give an anti-depressant. I could be wrong, but I think that is what pushed so many over the edge. In the meantime, I continue to worry about my friend and the one supposed to be caring for the birds said she had diarrhea, which she never said. She is quite involved with Mrs. S. Strange, strange, strange, mere coincidence or the stimulant. Anyway, Sue, if you are reading this, is my version of the theory on your website also or just yours. I was never sure and cannot access the website, so am anxious to know what type of reading I am referring people to. Thanks again for your kind efforts, and I do appreciate Mike and Steve Ibduk’s sites, if they are still there. Sincerely Gail

Both are on the website I cite. Here’s the post: Welcome to alt.support.crohns-colitis! Here are some important links to get you started, and the newsgroup charter to give you an idea of what we’re all about here: Want the FAQs, plus lots of other useful information about IBD and this newsgroup? Check out these websites http://qurlyjoe.bu.edu/cduchome.html AND http://ascc.healingwell.com Confused ’cause you’ve got mail from Gail? Check out http://ascc.healingwell.com/info/gailfaq.htm And now (drumroll please) our charter: What is Alt.support.crohns-colitis? Alt.support.crohns-colitis was created in early 1994 as a forum where people suffering from ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s Disease, and irritable bowel syndrome can share their everyday struggles with these illnesses, as well as discuss medicines, treatments, surgery, diet, health care providers, related illnesses, and anything else anyone can think of that relates to these diseases. In other words, this is the online equivalent of a support group, which means that no question is stupid and no condition embarrassing here. It also means we’re all here to help each other out, so please be nice, be polite, and no flaming. Discussions of all types of medicine- conventional and alternative, Western and Eastern, your Aunt Harriet’s home remedies, whatever- are welcome here; however, any person discussing a potential remedy which he or she also sells must explicitly begin the "Subject" header of their post with the word "AD" or "ADVERTISEMENT" in all caps, regardless of whether or not they profit from such sales. Spamming is expressly forbidden as violating the rules of netiquette as well as those of this newsgroup. Finally, please keep in mind that no one knows what causes these illnesses, no one’s come up with a cure, and we need all the help we can get.
