Possible link to Psoriasis
Question:
Jessica, Hi! This is vey interesting. I dont have psorisis but alot of people in my family do.. mainly the males though. Let me know what you find out. I hope that you are doing well. Take Care, Menoi http://members.aol.com/mandre2517/endo.html
Response:
Dear Jessica, I suffer from psoriasis on my scalp and in my ears! I have endo. My sister suffers from a form of arthritis called psoriatic arthritis, which does have a link to psoriasis. She doesn’t suffer from endo. My mom doesn’t have psoriasis, but did have endo. She had a hysterectomy when she was 29. My dad had psoriasis when he was alive…HE DIDN’T HAVE ENDO! LMAO sorry, I couldn’t resist that one. Hugs, Robin
Response:
I suffer from both endo and psoriasis. From what I understand, IBS like symptoms and crohn’s disease often go with psoriasis due to a similarity of the mucosa lining the stomach to one’s skin. Hormone fluctuations also seem to exacerbate this condition. Due to the fact that these things can also be linked to endo and the similarity between the two conditions (both involve the excess growth of tissue where it ought not to be), I wonder if it isn’t possible that they are somehow related. Jessica

Hi Jessica, My husband suffers from psoriasis and we wondered the same thing but for a different reason. We were living in an apartment where they sprayed for bugs once a month and that’s when I got my serious symptoms (excrutiating pain) and he developed psoriasis. I know endo is dioxin related so I’m sure it’s possible that psoriasis is as well. But he also has vitiligo so who knows. I did endo up having some kind of hives outbreak and my husband had a few of those two. His mother was never diagnosed with endo, but did have a hard time conceiving and does have a thyroid problem now. I really think all of these things are related, but I also think there are more reasons than dioxins that are causing these problems. Mindi

How intriguing, a hypoactive thyroid is ALSO on my list of probs. I’ve wondered about that as a possible link/cause as well. Jessica
