IBD/Women's stories
Question:
Hi, all — I’m doing a little bit of research for a friend of mine who is giving a talk on women’s experiences with ulcerative colitis/irritable bowel disease. (She has the condition herself). She is curious about how women have approached healing/living with the condition — what kinds of treatment have you undergone? How have traditional and non-traditional approaches affected you? How has it affected your family life? Have you had experiences with the condition that you think are unique to women?
One’s monthly cycle can cause flares – I think this is unique to women!
I spent the entire year of 1994 bleeding from my colon for one week a month *after* my period was over. The week before my period is due is always my least symptomatic.

If anyone with IBD or ulcerative colitis is willing to share their experiences, please respond, either on the forum or to my email address. Or, if you could point me in the direction of where I might find other information (personal stories, not research findings or articles), I’d appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance!!!
