– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I have a two year old cat called Frannie who is a complete handful. We got her from the cat protection league when she was around 14 weeks old. They had told us that she had been chucked out of a car near a farm and left to die, so as you can imagine she was very timid. The only problem that we had was that my husband had asthma and he had never had pets before so we were worried that the cat hair might trigger his allergies. I am pleased to report that if anything the cat has helped him overcome his allergy & he now wonders how he could have spent so much of his life without a cat in it Frannie is now very well, very cheeky & very loving!

Lucky Frannie who got a new loving home! Asthma and allergies are really interesting, how they don’t act the way they are supposed to. Your husband’s asthma got better living with a cat, which is great. I used to live with a guy who was allergic to animals. But only if he saw them. We could sit on the bus, and someone would come in with a dog, and if my boyfriend did not notice, he was fine. But if I said, "look, a dog came in" his nose would start running and his eyes would puff up straight away. It would seem it was completely psychosomatic. Glad I got rid of him, because then Frank and Nikki came into my life.

That’s very wierd but I’m sure glad for you and for Frannie. Youngest son highly allergic to our cats, less so to the d-pet: pre-asthma: ‘98, and all pets now have complete run of house (when he still lived here, they stayed in back half of house). So much more chummy and fun now with meatloaves on all furniture (snort) and B.T. Rowdy crashing on and off tables holding breakables! — Let’s have a toast….with electricity
