St. Gertrude and asthma
Question:
Is anyone aware that St. Gertrude suffered with asthma? When I’m going through a rough stretch, I like to think about her, and even ask for her prayers. Richard Harwood

Hi Richard, No, I didn’t know this! (I should be ashamed as a card-carrying Catholic, too!!! :) Tell you what, since I am a fellow asthmatic, I will offer a prayer on our behalf and see if St. Gertrude will intercede. What harm can this do, eh??

Ok, so who is the Patron Saint of asthmatics? Anybody know? If I was ever told by the good sisters, I surely forgot. :-| lon

Dear Richard, Your post gave me chills, as I did not know there was a Saint Gertrude. I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic schools but did not know this. My beloved grandmother who died many years ago was named Gertrude and I pray to her often, especially for my son, who is an asthma sufferer. If anyone has info on St. Gertrude, please email me. St Bernadette, who saw the visions at Lourdes,France, also suffered from asthma. I could not find the patron saint of asthmatics, but the patron saint of bodily ills is Our Lady of Lourdes. A lot of other diseases do have their own patron saint as well as most professions that deal with illness. Shannon
