To The Friends Of Sandy Kinghorn
Question:
Rick, Thank you so much for passing on this sad sad news about Sandy. I saw another poster mention the possibility of taking up a collection for the kids, and since you have a home address for them I was wondering if you a)thought that would be a good idea, and b) could function as the "collector".
Response:
It is with great sadness that I must report the loss of a member of our group. Sandy Kinghorn passed away Saturday evening, at home in Layton Utah. The exact cause of death is as yet unknown. She had been in poor health for over a year, but always seemed to have time to help a friend, or even a stranger in need. Those wishing to send cards or flowers to her husband Jim, and their children Brian and Stephanie may do so at the following address: 1709 E. Hillsboro Dr. Layton UT 84040 Rick Armstrong
Response:
I’m glad you let us know. I had become concerned about her since it had been a while since she last posted, but got caught up in my own life and didn’t E-mail her. I wish I had just . . . I wish I had . . I wish . . . Those newer to this group may not realize how important she was to all of us. She never let her illness get in the way of supporting the rest of us. Her only real down time was when she was hospitalized. I just spent a couple of hours over at dejanews.com reading some of her posts. In just barely over a year of alt.support.ostomy and alt.support.chrohns-colitis she had almost 200 posts. There were only a couple that she originated, most were to give information or lend support to one of us, even during periods when she was extremely ill herself. She just got ill in June 95 and was diagnosed in August of that year. What was really eerie was that 6 months before she became ill she had recurrent dreams of dying on June 13, 1997. Makes me wonder if that jerk of a physician she went to when she had been unable to eat for so long caused her to lose 3 months. Enough of this. She wouldn’t want us to turn anger on individuals. She would want us to focus on the positive things, as she did. I believe she even lost (or almost lost) her baby sister last year, just 4-5 months after being diagnosed. I think it was one of those rare, fatal side effects of one of the medications she was taking. She told us about it only months afterward, not asking for pity, but to illustrate how serious all this can be. It kind of puts all of our petty bickering back in perspective, doesn’t it? At the worst of her illness she wondered if she would live to see her children grown. She won’t, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t let her children, as well as her entire family know just how important she was to all of us and how much we’ll miss her. So long, Sandy. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – It is with great sadness that I must report the loss of a member of our group.
