Dismissive Doctor

Question:

You may want to consider trying to interview doctors. Before my daughter was born I interviewed pediatricians. I would think that a doctor who refuses to interview is likely to be one of those doctors we complain about. Another think might be to try calling 1-800-DOCTORS. I’ve never used it but it couldn’t hurt to try. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I think that there are alot of very uncaring Drs out there.   alot of them being very unsympathetic to the pain that we experience with CD. My question is how to you know what the Drs feelings are on giving pain meds when you are sick. I know from chatting with fellow CDers that there are plenty of very compassinate Drs out there who will try and make you as comfatable as possible until the flare up passes. Any ideas on how to find uot a Drs protocal is on this matter BEFORE you change. Any info would be greatly appreciated on this subject. I am currently not feeling well and need a new GI asap. thanks everything I have recieved so much useful info on all topics  Carol

Lori that’s awful!  I’ll tell you what happened with the first GI we took our son to.  When we went for an emergency consult, he was so patronizing and rude that I think it actually made Adam sicker.  He remarked afterward that the doc talked about him, in front of him! like he was already dead.  Something we also noted but didn’t think it wise to make a big flap about while our son was lying there so ill.  After his scope was done, this piece of ____ came into the recovery room and was absolutely condescending and nasty to us.  He handed over a prescription for prednisone and said to bring him back in two weeks, and walked out.  I turned to my husband and told him if he thought I was going to subject our son to that doctor again, think again!  He was already nodding in agreement and I could see that he was angry over the encounter too.  The next day I called and made an appointment with another doctor, who is not on our insurance plan, but like I told my husband…  it’s easier to pay a little more and see someone else than for me to serve time for assaulting (not EXACTLY what I wanted to do!) the first guy.  The doc he has now treats him like his own son and is fabulous! Sorry to sound like a raving looney, but after seeing what my son went through I have lost  my patience with anyone who can’t be civil.  It’s the least they can do!   Ok, sermon over, Amen.  You may be seated. :) Jan…

Have you made a complaint to the State Board of Medical Examiners?   Believe me, they do follow up on complaints, and they’ll keep a file on the guy.  These things DO add up.  If the SOB treated you that horribly, you can bet he is doing the same to others.  He shouldn’t get away with it! Hope you’re feeling better now. Jan…

Hi! Was it Dr. Gourdji I think? He is not in Simi, is he? Hopefully he will do fine! What meds are you taking? Sometimes Darvocet makes me nauseous, sometimes I am nauseous anyway if I smell something gross, like a dirty exhaust from a truck, or even if it is too hot. I am engaged, but I would still like to have coffee with you! :) I’m 27 and my pic is on the Crohnie page, the URL is http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/5168/crohns. I have been with my fianc
